PERSONALIZED TRADITIONS II
curatorial project
Bulgarian Cultural Institute, 188, Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, London
15 -29 of November 2018
Personalized traditions is a project of Rakursi Gallery, curated by Rumyana Yoneva and Yavora Petrova. The project examines a different look at Bulgarian traditions through the eyes of eight young and mid-career artists.
The contemporary world we live in eliminates the boundaries and unifies the language in art and at the same time it stimulates the construction of the national specifics in a new way. The project is focused on the contemporary interpretation of the traditions beyond the usual frameworks and understandings. The participants interpret not only the traditions that flow from ancient times and different places and cultures, but also new, personal traditions. They build new models in which one can recognize old rituals, folklore and symbols seen from different perspectives. The exhibition presents paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations.
Artists participated:
Antonia Angelova, Velislava Gecheva, Irma Vodeva, Ivan Kostolov, Pavlin Radevski,
Zara Alexandrova & Zoran Georgiev, Yavora Petrova.
