Gallery Rakursi has the pleasure to present the exhibition of Mariangela Anastassova” Water Diary” from September 10 till September 26, 2026.

Mariangela is a cosmopolitan artist graduated from the French National Academy of Art and the Mexican National Autonomous University.

In the last years she is experimenting with the painting technique used by the abstract painter Hellen Frankenthaler: acrylic and flow enhancer on non-prepared canvas.

This is a technique of constant dialogue with the material and Mariangela has left the inspiration to come not from an image or idea, but from the color itself flowing freely on the wet surface.

We are aware now for more than 15 years of the experiments of the Japanese scientist Masaro Emoto with the memory of water. Water caries information and Mariangela as an artist has been attentive to the potential of discovering intuitive dialogues with the color and water.

The color stains are in constant transformation. And the artist improvises in an abstract manner similar to variations in music until the composition would reach the desired intensity and harmony felt like sufficient.

At that stage she often discovers a familiar feeling or atmosphere   or even creatures, forms, events, stories. Surprisingly, they transmit her subconscious state, her feelings and thoughts at the moment she is painting.

This method of creation completely flips over the correlation: Idea/Image and often leads to the discovery of subconscious realities not only personal but also about the world we live in.
