Rakursi Gallery has the pleasure to present the exhibition “Colors of the Rocks” by Silvia Chaneva and Trayana Panayotova.

The exhibition presents two artists who work in different media, Silvia Chaneva – in ceramics, Trayana Panayotova – paper on canvas, whose works explore the richness of matter and the traces of time. They enter into a visual dialogue, combining the raw material of the three-dimensional ceramic objects with the fragility of the paper, which mutually emphasize and balance each other.

Silvia Chaneva’s ceramic sculptures are related to her trip to the island of Møn in Denmark.

“The forms I create are inspired by rock formations, their layers, structures and color nuances. They are the result of my observations of natural processes and my personal experience of the landscape. This is how plastic objects emerge, reminiscent of stone and rock – weathered, cracked or scorched by time, carrying their own rhythm and balance between the abstract form and the recognizable natural image.”

Paper is the main means of expression for Trayana Panayotova. “I work intuitively, relying on the dialogue between form and color. Each subsequent layer changes the meaning of the previous one and rearranges the composition. In my works, I seek the balance between density and etherealness, between categorical presence and subtle hinting. Collage is my way of gradually building new spaces.”
