“Only in the world that the artist Atanas Hranov creates, but also inhabits, is it possible to hear how an ancient Arabic musical instrument and a lonely stone island in the middle of the Aegean weave together the music of the celestial spheres.
Only in this artist’s world does the shape of the instrument echo the shape of the island, just as the sound of the wind hitting the lonely rock in the sea echoes the deep, mournful sound of the oud.
Only in the magical world of Atanas Hranov do the sky and the earth, the water and the stone, the light and the darkness, the blow and the wound, the blood and the sap of the trees exchange places in a magical way.
Because the artist has an eye for the soft irony of life, that irony that erases the sorrow in the corner of our lips, makes our wounds from existence heal in an instant, tears a gentle and forgiving laughter from our throat.
Laughter like a melody, born from strings between the clouds and the horizon, pulled by our innate longing for divine harmony.”
