ТRENDAFILA TRENDAFILOVA
TRÈS
19 – 30 September 2017
The Edmond Demirdjian Foundation is handing the award for painting for promising development and dedication to Art for the eight time. For 2017 the prize goes to Trendafila Trendafilova for her cycle „Très “.
The award was set in 2010 to commemorate the artist Edmond Demirdjian and is presented annually.
The jury comprising of: Maria Vassileva, Nadezhda Oleg-Lyahova, Daniela Radeva, Rumyana Yoneva, Nedko Solakov and Pravdoliub Ivanov follows the young emerging artist’s development through the whole year. The selection is motivated by the quality of artistic expression and the contemporary visual language as well as the vision for further development of the newcomer.
The title of Trendafila Trendafilova’s exhibition comes from the French word for “many” and also from the nickname the artist’s friends gave her. It points toward the lack of a single concept as well as the stage of development of the artist with its multi- directional character. Depicted in the paintings are personal episodes from the artist’ personal life, that evoked strong emotions of joy or sadness. “The room” is a never -ending source of inspiration. Finding herself in diverse situations gives Trendafila the opportunity to explore herself. The specifics of the story and the partakers lose their importance. The gained experience pours out into a line-to-color ratio. The same attitude Trendafila applies to music that she listens to or makes. The reorganizing of characters, objects and moments gives the opportunity of infinite configurations and expresses a whole spectrum of emotional states.
