Georgi Tchapkanov- Tchapp is one of the most famous Bulgarian contemporary sculptors. He is known both with small and monumental sculptures. His monumental works are in possession of many museums worldwide, such as Bulgarian National Art Gallery, Museum Hermitage in St.Peterburg, Pushkin Museum-Moskow, Museum in Stuttgard, Outzoukouchi-Ga-Hara Museum-Japan, Academy Lalit Kala- New Delhi, Moran Open Air Museum-South Korea, La Blade de Seprai- Switzerland, Peter Ludwig Collection-Germany, Moutier Museum- Switzerland.

He is a winner of many awards and among them are the First Prize for Sculpture from the Union of Bulgarian Artists-1977, 1979, 1986, the Prize of Hakone Open-Air Museum in the competition Rodin – Japan, Grand Prix in the competition “Henry Moore” from Hakone Museum – Japan, the Prize for Sculpture from the Trienale of Art in New Delhi-1991, the Prise “Sulmona” of the President of Italy for the portrait of Federico Fellini-1993, Grand Prix for 2002 in Paris.

Tchapkanov is an author of medals, coins and the national emblem of Republic of Bulgaria. He has over 30 solo exhibition worldwide.

With an exhibition of Georgi Tchapkanov from 28.05.04 to 8.06.04 is opened the gallery Rakursi. The exhibition presents sculptures, engravings and paintings. Most of the works are based on mythological and biblical topics. Some of art pieces are on his favorite erotic theme.
