Nora Ampova (born 1989 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a visual artist, painter, sculptor, and printmaker. Her art is candid and social, often jocular and infused with irony.
In 2014 Nora graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia with a Masters in Fine Arts and completed a post-graduate specialization in the UK.
Nora Ampova is known from several independent projects, including Personal Venus (2015 Yuzina Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria), Hide and Seek (2016 Mytilene Municipal Gallery, Lesvos, Greece and Red Point Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria), Cosmos (2018 Unicredit Studio, Sofia, Bulgaria).
The artist has also participated in collective projects, such as The Next Step Generation exhibition (2015 European Commission building in Brussels, Belgium), Image and Likeness (2015 National Gallery, Bulgaria), Caution: Fresh Paint (2015 Sofia City Gallery, Bulgaria) Young artists select young artists (2014 Rakursi Gallery, Sofia). Her works are part of the Art Center Hugo Voeten collection (Hugo Voeten Art Center, Herentals, Belgium).
Among her achievements she received the young talents award of Unicredit Studio and the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation 2016.
I aim the messages in the works I create to reach the audience quickly. I see it as communication, this is how I am in life – impatient, direct, determined.
