Rakursi Art Gallery presents from the 7th to the 24th of March 2018 the paintings of Rosen Rashev – Roshpaka and porcelain objects of Silvia Chaneva. The gallery invited the two artists because of their deep connection to the nature and the warmth of the materials they use.
Roshpaka is known for his “sewn” pictures made of natural materials. His basic idea is to connect the signs and the symbols of modern times and antiquity in his works.
The artist lives in a small town in North-west Bulgaria. His connection to the land, the silence and the simple things gives him the joy of life that radiates from his works.
Rosen Rashev was born in 1970 in Vratsa. In 1989 he graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Sofia. He has 50 exhibitions in various spaces including Rakursi Art Gallery, Gallery Ata-Ray, Sofia, Sariev-Plovdiv, 1908 Gallery in Sofia and Cologne, Bratislava, Belgrade, Jagodina. He has participated in numerous international workshops organized by the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art, city of Jagodina, Serbia, Gallery of Naïve Art in Trebes, Slovenia, Canton Palin Jean Fiu, France. Since 1999 his works are in the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art, city of Jagodina, Serbia and at the Salon Museum in Belgrade. He has won awards from art museums and galleries.
Silvia Chaneva presents objects and forms from ceramics and porcelain. Their design is inspired by the structures and forms that she observes in nature, where they have evolved for thousands of years. The artist recreates them in a very personal way, following their innermost feelings.
Silvia Chaneva was born in Sofia.
She graduated from the School of Applied Arts and the National Academy of Arts, Sofia, specialty “ceramics” in the course of Prof. Bojidar Bonchev. He has seven solo exhibitions in the galleries “Testa”, “Rakursi”, “Gaia” and “Melon”, Sofia and in “Moon from roots”, Burgas. He participated in many international exhibitions – Koblenz – Germany, Turin-Italy, Leipzig – Germany, Bucharest – Romania. Winner of the Silver Medal from the eighth edition of “Bienale in Rovenna, Italy, La Porta per la Citta di Paradiso”, 1998; Award for overall contribution in the field of ceramic Bulgaria – in 2013 and award for outstanding contribution and excellence of the Festival of contemporary ceramics – Sofia, 2017
