RESTART
21 January – 12 February 2021
Rakursi Gallery has the pleasure to present works by three Bulgarian artists from the young generation – Deyan Yanev, Kaliya Kalacheva and Konstantin Kostov.
In the exhibition “Restart” they show their works created during or related to the pandemic. The exhibition is part of the Rakursi Gallery project, “Art as a Way to Overcome the Stress of the Global Crisis”.
Deyan Yanev shows oil paintings and a series of drawings born of life during the quarantine. Characterized by precision and mastery, his drawings are exciting, complex and provoke the one’s way of thinking. The surrealist works of the young artist give a completely different perspective towards the situations with which the crisis met us.
The works of Kaliya Kalacheva whether interiors or exteriors, create an unreal landscape, which encompasses the feeling of the moment we live. Her landscapes are associated with specific spatial and temporal dimensions and express a subjective mood, which transforms them in a psychological compositions.
Konstantin Kostov shows a series of paintings, presenting the tools needed to deal with the crisis – tools for survival, research, expansion. His works are philosophical, a result of an introspection. The artist turns his attention to the literature, where he seeks answers to the questions that concern his mind. According to him, isolation has led to an awareness of the value, fragility and vulnerability of the world and a return to the human and spiritual dimension.
The project is implemented with the support of the National Culture Fund Bulgaria.
